How does the treatment work?
Treating moles after they have been properly analysed is a simple and quick procedure. The laser energy vapourises the mole resulting immediately in the ablation of tissue. The mole can be removed in ultra-thin layers with practically no effect on the surrounding tissue. The new skin layers that form during healing are smooth and regular. The therapy is simple, fast and accurate.
Does it hurt?
The treatment is generally painless; however an anaesthetic cream or injection can be applied to reduce any discomfort.
How long does it take to heal?
The skin takes 1-2 weeks to heal, as the Er. YAG Laser causes a superficial wound to the skin. There will also be some slight skin swelling, but this is a temporary condition and will usually resolve in 1-2 days.
What after care is involved?
Postoperative care is minimal. Your doctor may ask you to use an anti-bacterial ointment for a short period of time. After the wound healing phase the skin may stay slightly pink, and the best result will be seen after a few months when this increase in bloodflow has completely resolved.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: A Mole Scan and diagnosis together with a Doctor’s consultation is required in all cases before starting the Laser Mole Removal Treatment.
