Hypertrophic, Keloid and Atrophic Scars can be effectively revised through the use of an Erbium YAG Laser Peel.
This laser system
emits a low energy laser beam with short pulses that ablate the tissue by vaporisation, with minimal heat conduction to surrounding
tissues. The thermal effect generated from this energy is used to stimulate more collagen formation, improving the skin texture in
the long term.
Each individual case is different. On average one to four laser peel treatments are required at intervals of
4 to 6 weeks or longer.
The higher the Laser power we use, the longer the downtime due to redness but the fewer treatments are required.
If the client wishes to minimise the downtime, more treatments may be required.
Acne Scars:
Many men and women who have had severe or cystic acne during their lives are often left with deep, depressed scars that
give the skin a crater-like or orange-peel appearance. These scars are a result of collagen and epidermal damage and do not go away
without treatment. Frequently acne scars also retain a red appearance.
Acne scar improvement most often requires a combination of treatments. Some will respond well to a collagen-stimulating ND: YAG laser, while others will need Erbium YAG Laser resurfacing or Dermal Fillers. There are many types of dermal fillers that can be injected into acne scars to raise the surface of the skin and give a smoother look.
Acne scar treatments require that a person's skin is free of active acne, so if you still break out we will have to address this first (see our Acne treatment page for more information).
